High Council for Insurance Investigators – Prerogatives of HCGI/HACIG

1. Investigation of Insurance Fraud

  • Detect, investigate, and document fraudulent practices in the insurance sector, including false claims, identity fraud, and collusion between parties.

2. Consumer Protection

  • Safeguard the rights of insured individuals by ensuring fair treatment, transparent policies, and quick resolution of disputes with insurers.

3. Monitoring Insurance Institutions

  • Observe and report unethical or unlawful conduct by insurance companies or brokers, especially in their dealings with clients.

4. Legal Assistance

  • Provide support to victims of insurance abuse through legal guidance, complaint filing, and, where necessary, judicial follow-up.

5. Policy Review and Advocacy

  • Review insurance policy frameworks and recommend reforms to regulatory bodies to ensure equity and fairness in the sector.

6. Awareness Campaigns

  • Ensure timely and accurate financial reporting to the Executive Council, General High Commissioner, and statutory partners, both national and international.

7. Stakeholder Collaboration

  • Work in partnership with national insurance regulators, law enforcement, legal bodies, and consumer rights groups to ensure effective regulation.

8. Conflict Mediation

  • Mediate conflicts between insurance providers and clients to achieve just and amicable resolutions.

9. Training and Certification

  • Train and certify insurance investigators within the HCGI/HACIG framework to ensure high standards of ethics and professionalism.

10. Cross-Border Insurance Oversight

  • Monitor international or cross-border insurance-related human rights violations, especially concerning migrants, workers, or disaster victims.
