Prerogatives of the Firefighters Department

1. Fire Prevention and Safety Awareness

  • Conduct regular public education campaigns on fire prevention, emergency preparedness, and risk reduction.
  • Evaluate fire risks in public and private infrastructures and issue safety recommendations.

2. Firefighting and Emergency Response

  • Respond swiftly to fire outbreaks, explosions, and related emergencies.
  • Deploy trained personnel and equipment to extinguish fires and rescue victims.
  • Ensure coordination with national civil protection and local emergency services.

3. Rescue Operations

  • Carry out rescue missions in cases of natural disasters (floods, landslides, earthquakes), road accidents, and hazardous material incidents.
  • Provide first aid and basic medical intervention during rescue missions.

4. Training and Capacity Building

  • Train firefighters in modern techniques, rescue protocols, and equipment handling.
  • Organize simulations and drills for preparedness and response readiness.

5. Inspection and Regulation

  • Conduct safety inspections of buildings, factories, markets, and institutions to ensure fire code compliance.
  • Recommend improvements and enforce corrective measures where risks are identified.

6. Equipment and Maintenance

  • Ensure proper maintenance and readiness of firefighting trucks, gear, and protective equipment.
  • Propose acquisitions and technological updates as needed.

7. Disaster Risk Reduction and Planning

  • Participate in national and regional disaster risk reduction plans and contingency mapping.
  • Advise authorities and communities on safety standards and evacuation strategies.

8. Community Engagement and Volunteer Development

  • Build and support community-based volunteer firefighter units in rural or high-risk areas.
  • Foster a culture of safety and emergency readiness at the grassroots level.

9. Collaboration and Partnerships

  • Work in coordination with government agencies, NGOs, and international partners in emergency response.
  • Share data, training, and resources with other departments within HACIG.

10. Reporting and Documentation

  • Record all incidents, interventions, and missions for evaluation and transparency.
  • Submit regular reports to HACIG leadership and relevant national authorities.
