Agronomic Council – Prerogatives of HCGI/HACIG

1. Promotion of Agricultural Human Rights

  • Advocate for the rights of farmers, rural workers, and local communities to access land, water, seeds, and fair agricultural policies.

2. Food Security & Sovereignty

  • Support initiatives that strengthen food availability, affordability, and sustainability, respecting the right of people to control their food systems.

3. Land Tenure and Access Advocacy

  • Monitor and intervene in cases of land grabbing, unfair evictions, and ensure equitable access to arable land for vulnerable populations.

4. Support for Agroecology and Sustainable Farming

  • Promote environmentally responsible, locally adapted, and socially equitable agricultural practices.

5. Capacity Building and Training

  • Organize seminars, workshops, and training sessions for farmers and agronomists on sustainable agriculture, seed management, climate resilience, and rights-based farming.

6. Monitoring of Rural Development Projects

  • Ensure government and private rural development programs respect human rights and deliver real benefits to local populations.

7. Advocacy for Fair Agricultural Trade

  • Push for just and equitable market systems for agricultural products, protecting smallholder farmers from exploitation.

8. Climate Resilience and Environmental Integration

  • Incorporate climate-smart agricultural approaches and support communities in adapting to environmental changes.

9. Protection of Indigenous Agricultural Practices

  • Promote and defend traditional agricultural knowledge and practices that are sustainable and culturally significant.

10. National and International Partnership Building

  • Engage with agricultural institutions, research centers, NGOs, and global food security bodies to drive equitable agronomic progress.
